Fees and Funding

Ditchling Preschool is a charitable setting, managed by Fiona Hughes/Angee Holford as well as a committee of volunteers.  Our income comes from the fees we receive from parents and the funding we receive from East Sussex County Council (which has not been increased for many years).  This income is topped up by our fundraising and donations.   We really pride ourselves on the friendly and nurturing environment we offer, and the happiness of the children.   We offer a high quality service with a high staff to child ratio which is in excess of Ofsted’s guidelines.  Naturally, this high level of professional care comes at a cost of fees of £7.00 per hour.

All 3 and 4 years olds are entitled to funding for up to 15 hours per week of Early Years Education, for 38 weeks of the year, from the term after their 3rd birthday. (Working parents may be entitled to up to 30 hours per week, although at Ditchling we are offering 15 hours, so you would need to split your 30 hours between us and another provider.)  Some 2 year olds are eligible for 15 hours of free childcare per week during term time, for example if you get certain benefits. In order to obtain your 15 hours with us, you need to sign the form that we give you once your child is eligible, in terms 1, 3 and 5.  East Sussex County Council then pay us directly.  To find out more, visit East Sussex County Council nursery grants.

In order to cover the cost of these afternoon sessions while still allowing parents to use their EYEE grant allocations, we are asking our parents to consider making a voluntary donation equivalent to the difference between the EYEE hourly rate (£3.94) and the fee hourly rate (£7.00).

This top-up equates to:

£7.65 (for a 14:45 pickup on Mondays and Tuesdays)

£3.06 (for a 13:15 pickup on Fridays)

Please note: children can attend mornings only or for the whole day. Children cannot attend just in the afternoons.

If you would like your child to attend pre-school in the afternoons and are currently receiving the EYEE grant (or will be in the future), could you please indicate below whether you will/will not be paying the voluntary top-up on your child’s application form.

Fees are payable termly and will be invoiced at the start of each term.   We appreciate that some parents would prefer to pay on a monthly basis and we are pleased to offer this type of flexible payment system to those who need it. We are also able to accept Childcare vouchers e.g.: Sodexo Pass Childcare, Kiddivouchers and Accor. Our fees are reviewed annually.

In addition to this, our Early Bird sessions from 8.55 until 9.15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays are £2 per session.  These can be paid on a pay-as-you-go basis or can be invoiced termly.

We are closed for 5 INSET days throughout the year, which you will not be charged for.
